1. He's is such a loving boy! He loves to be held and cuddled and give hugs/kisses.
2. He has the big gap between his big toe and his others like a lot of down syndrome people have.
3. He has been learning sign language. He knows dad, mom, eat, dog, ball, play, book, duck just to name a few.
4. He loves books! He will scoot back to his room and pull out all his books and look at each one.
5. Jayden loves his bath time! He will scoot back to the bathroom if you ask him if he's ready to take a bath. Then he throws all his toys out of the tub and soaks the floor.
6. Jayden will go into any room and close the door behind him and then start knocking on the door.
7. Jayden has a little bit of webbed fingers on his right hand. It's not real noticeable unless you really look for it. I noticed it shortly after he was born and we were waiting for his chromosome study to come back. So of course, I was doing a ton of research on down syndrome and that can be a characteristic. He does not have the full line across his hand that is so common in down syndrome.
8. When Jayden's chromosome results came back, we found out he has translocation down syndrome and his extra 21 chromosome is attached to one of his 14th.
9. Jayden has been making a lot of progress with his physical therapist. Heather (his PT) will show him something a few times and he will start doing it on his own. She showed him how to pull up on his knees and now he will do it without holding on to things. She has been working on him pulling himself to stand and he finally did it by himself last week and then today, he is doing a lot of this. I was really starting to wonder if he would ever want to be on his feet.
10. Jayden loves Elmo. He watches Play with me Sesame and loves to watch Sesame Street.
11. Jayden loves dogs. He sees a dog or hears a dog barking and he will start imitating the barking.
12. Jayden had an ASD which we didn't know he had until he was 18 months old. He then had open-heart surgery to fix it.
13. Jayden loves when I go walking and he can sit back in his stroller and enjoy the ride.
14. Jayden has somewhat of a food aversion but he's getting better!
15. Jayden only weighs 22 pounds. He's not on the chart for normal kids but he's in the 25% on the down syndrome chart.
16. Jayden absolutely loves his daddy! When Sean gets home from work, Jayden will get so mad if he isn't picked up right away.
17. Jayden also loves his brothers! Tyler is getting to be a really good built-in babysitter.
18. I can still see a lot of the scars on Jayden from where he had IV's in and a central line and where the cardiac. cath. line went in. He also has a very nice scar down his chest.
19. Jayden loves to play the itsy-bitsy spider. Check out this post of him playing!
20. Jayden loves to go outside and play on the trampoline with his brothers.
21. Last, but not least, Jayden is a very special spirit that I feel honored to have as my son!
